St. Petersburg Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. (SPNHS), NeighborWorks® America, the Home Depot Foundation, Tampa Armature Works (TAW), and the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), are working together to create affordable, energy-efficient, storm-ready homes from recycled steel shipping containers for Florida’s hurricane ravaged gulf region.
Bob Vila has been in St. Petersburg documenting the project, and episodes aired in September on his show.
Visit Bob Vila's website to view clips from the three shows, which demonstrate the transformation of Intermodal Steel Building Units (ISBU) into the framework for safe, affordable homes that reflect the characteristics of other homes in historic Bartlett Park.
Bob Vila also takes viewers on a tour of other historic neighborhoods in St. Petersburg. Bob Vila and the crew of The Bob Vila Show will return to St. Petersburg this fall to continue filming the project for episodes to air later in the season. |
